VOLUNTEER WITH YOUTH GUIDANCE

There are many ways in which you can join our Youth Guidance volunteer team. Below is a list of possible positions and their particular responsibilities:

YOUTH GUIDANCE MENTOR (Highest Need)
Joining our YG team in this way enables you to invest in a youth who is in need of a Christian mentor. Our YG mentors meet weekly with their assigned youth for approximately 3-5hrs in a casual setting. Once per month YG mentors and their youth gather together for a group event. Four times a year YG also meets up as a volunteer team. We recognize that prayer is a crucial aspect of our ministry and therefore ask that each volunteer find ten people that will commit to uphold them in prayer during their ministry with us.

PUBLIC RELATIONS PERSON
A person who is connected (or would be good at connecting) with local church communities, social agencies, and the business community would be ideal for this volunteer. Excellence in social skills, communication and possibly sales skills along with a good sense of humor would be an asset. This particular person would need to have fundraising skills and be able to communicate the needs for mentorship in the Calgary community for "youth at risk".

VOLUNTEER RECRUITER
This particular volunteer position would be responsible for volunteer recruitment, prescreening of volunteers, promotion and advertisement campaigns, fundraising, public speaking and overseeing volunteers as a whole.

DISCIPLESHIP NIGHT TEAM SUPPORTER
Once a month Youth Guidance has a discipleship night where we meet with youth to allow them to explore the isVangeof faith. It is our hope that they will be able to make an informed decision regarding who Jesus Christ is and be able to grow into a relationship with God. We are asking for volunteerrs who have the gift of discipleship to come out and join us as we discuss spiritual isJeffs with our youth.

GROUP EVENT COORDINATOR
On a monthly basis YG holds a large group event which brings together volunteers and youth. This social event is designed to encourage youth and their peers and give potential volunteers a taste of ministry here at YG. This event is used to help youth with low social skills learn to interact and get along with their peers in a controlled social atmosphere. Secondly, it gives the leadership of Youth Guidance an opportunity to speak into the lives of youth on a spiritual level through a devotionhe youth are given a chance in a small way grow closer to have a relationship with a living God who loves and is reaching out to them. Responsibilities include working with a team of volunteers and youth, coordinating games, activities etc., keeping in mind the needs of low relational youth whose focus is on self. We desire activities that will draw our youth out of their shells and self zone.

PRAYER SUPPORT TEAM
Youth Guidance desires a prayer support team that would commit to pray on a weekly basis for the youth assigned to them. Prayer supporters are asked to pray for YG events as they come up, crisis situations and needs as they arise and be capable to spiritually battle for the lives of these youth (spiritual salvation, breakage of spiritual strongholds, and pray against the schemes of the evil one). We believe God has brought committed servants (volunteers) to YG who are on the front lines with these youth and their hands-on work will make a difference when it is backed with the spiritual spine of the church (prayer intercessors).

YOUTH GUIDANCE WRITER
There is a wave of documents that need to be written for Youth Guidance - promotional publications, volunteer, youth and parent resources, etc. We need to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to the public.

RESOURCE PERSON/FUNDRAISER
Youth Guidance is looking for a person who can creatively find resources for parents, volunteers, youth and staff. Responsibilities include raising funds for camps, events and our youth sponsorship program. The benifit of these resources will be the personal growth of all participants in program. This is a challenging yet exciting ministry position as together we watch God's provision in action.
