BECOME CAMPUS LIFE STAFF

At Campus Life we want "to share the message of Jesus Christ and His love, with students in junior and senior high school by building relationships through activities, sports, trips, on-on-ones and other youth directed activities." We are looking for adults who have a heart for kids, to join our team so that we can do this most efficiently and effectively.
Campus Life is a relational ministry that strives to assist students in developing a balanced life: spiritually, mentally, physically, socially and emotionally. We need adults who are willing to listen, understand and talk with teens.

We are asking God to provide us with staff members who:

  • Have a heart for God
  • Have a burden to reach out to un-churched youth
  • Have gifts and talents that can be used in schools (i.e. sports, other interscholastic clubs and activities)
  • Are willing to be an active part of a team
  • Are able to connect with youth in a variety of settings (i.e. 1-on-1, small group, large group)
  • Are able to supervise and give direction to a team of volunteers assisting them as they connect with youth
  • Are self-motivated
  • Are an active participant of a local church community/body
  • Are willing to seek further self-growth through things like seminars & courses
  • Are able to raise 100% of their salary through tax-deductible donations

Campus Life currently has four job opportunities:

Field Staff (2) - working directly on school campuses helping run clubs and other activities for youth.
Program Development Staff (1) - helping develop cutting-edge ways of motivating churched and non-churched students to serve and be involved in activities on and off campus.
Events Coordinator Staff (1) - coordinator of big and small events, trips, retreats and other functions for youth involved in our program.

For those who are interested in any of these positions they will be asked to comply with the following requests:

  • Submit an application form for employment with Youth For Christ complete with references.
  • Attend at least one formal interview with the Executive Director and Campus Life Director.
  • Compile a list of names and addresses of at least 125-200 people who may consider supporting you in the ministry of Youth For Christ.
  • With guidance from the Executive Director and Campus Life Director, set a target starting date of employment.
  • Begin the fundraising process by sending out an official letter from the Executive Director of Youth For Christ to your potential supporter list.
  • Put full effort into raising support, with the aid of the Executive Director and Campus Life Director when needed.
  • Begin getting involved in program activities as a volunteer.
  • Raise a minimum of 80% of your monthly salary + $3000.00 accumulated funds before coming on as full-time staff.
  • Read through the YFC policy manual.
  • Sign Youth For Christ's Mission Statement and Statement of Faith
  • Be involvemed in the local church that you attend.

EVENTS STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Youth Ministry (approx. 40%)
Develop big events for 50+ youth
Develop smaller events for up to 50 youth
Organize and coordinate program trips, camps and retreats

Volunteer Ministry (approx. 15%)
Recruiting & training
Giving direction and encouragement to volunteer team
Assisting with connecting volunteers with students

Public Relations (approx. 10%)
Meet with organizers of community based centers
Meet with other community organizations & pastors
Organize the promotion and visibility of events
Build a working relationship with the corporate world

Fundraising (approx. 10%)
Recruit and maintain your donor base
Send out quarterly newsletters/prayer letters
Make donor appointments, phone calls and other forms of correspondence
Hold church and group presentations
Attend/assist with all YFC general fundraising events
Seek out corporate sponsors of events

Administration & Staff Relations (approx. 20%)
Program planning, budgets & reports
YFC weekly staff meetings & biweekly program staff meetings
Supervision meetings biweekly
Staff retreats (up to 2 per year)
Annual Regional Retreat (Winter)
National Ministry Conference (Spring)
Other staff social events

Internship, Spiritual Development and Personal Training (approx. 5%)
Interns are to complete the internship assignments and attend regional training twice and Summer Institute training once over a 2 year span
Once credentialed you are responsible to continue developing yourself and seek opportunities to be trained and developed

Meet with other community organizations & pastors

Develop a curriculum suitable for school use about relevant isJeffs facing today's teens
Develop a curriculum usable in training leaders both in schools and in churches
Coordinate materials used in the field for discipleship, Christian clubs and other small group meetings
Assist the director in the development and training of volunteers

Volunteer Ministry (approx. 10%)
Recruiting & training
Giving direction and encouragement to volunteer team
Assist with connecting volunteers with students

Public Relations (approx. 15%)
Meet with educators and pastors within the community
Build a working relationship within the Calgary Board of Education and other school districts in the Calgary area

Fundraising (approx. 15%)
Recruit and maintain your donor base
